A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

At ART Health Clinic we bring together all our knowledge and experience in nutritional therapy, naturopathy, functional medicine and energy medicine to provide something truly unique. A blend of nutrition science, biochemistry, pyschoemotional interventions, lifestyle medicine and biophysics to encompass a much more comprehensive approach to overall wellbeing.

By understanding that the body is more than just the physical, we work on interwoven layers of the body at the energetic, emotional and mental levels using a variety of modalities including diet and lifestyle assessment, various lab tests, mental field therapy and autonomic response testing. The body is not made of isolated systems, so we believe the methods used to support it shouldn’t be either.

A functional medicine approach to nutrition is the most effective way of looking at biochemistry. Here we assess your health timeline, current and past symptoms and genetic predispositions to identify biochemical imbalances and triggers. We then add a mind-body-spirit approach that considers 7 interconnected systems of health including food, emotions, thoughts and limiting beliefs, movement, oxygenation, community and connection to go beyond nutrition into nourishment at all levels of health.

To this we incorporate Autonomic Response Testing and the 5 Levels of Healing that separate the body into 5 interrelated parts: the physical body, the energetic body, the mental body, the intuitive body and the spiritual body. Using the advanced ART, we are able to scan the body for areas of stress and determine the causes of that stress, be it toxicity, infection, nutrient deficiency, structural, energetic blocks or trauma-related. We scan for areas of dysfunction in organs, in the extracellular matrix and at the level of the cells finding solutions along the way that are effective for you. These solutions can include tapping points, foods, dietary changes, detoxification measures, supplements, herbs and lifestyle recommendations.

We believe that the best approach is to take as few supplements as possible as this allows those with the most therapeutic benefit to be more effective. At the end of the session the entire protocol is checked as a whole to remove any products that are not working synergistically or are not having any benefit. This allows those that are needed to shine through and help you move faster on your path to results.

While there is no guarantee that you’ll achieve total success in what you hope to achieve, as is the case with all therapies, this is by far the most accurate and promising combination that we’ve discovered and we’re very excited to be able to offer this combination of clinical tools. Our hope is to help you better understand complex health pictures, get to the root causes of the problems and target your programme in the most effective way possible.

What is Autonomic Response Testing?

WHAT IS A.R.T?

Autonomic Response Testing is a comprehensive hands-on testing method using biofeedback from the body measured through changes in the autonomic nervous system to identify areas of stress, the causes of that stress and how to best address it. Developed by Dr Dietrich Klinghardt, ART is an extremely comprehensive method of assessing the various diverse burdens on the body to allow more effective intervention.

ART brings the science of biophysics into the nutritional side of biochemistry. Working alongside nutrition data and lifestyle medicine we help bring the body back into balance to a point where it can start to self heal. The healing comes from your own body, but in order to do that certain pieces of groundwork need to be done first. Sometimes the body loses the ability to self regulate and then struggles to restore balance without some therapeutic intervention. This is called blocked regulation and a fundamental part of the ART session involves opening regulation. When the body is healthy it emits coherent polarised light. By measuring the output of these emissions, it is possible to assess regulation. Open regulation is a spectrum and we aim to get your regulation as open as possible using the 7 factors to maximise the benefits of any therapeutic interventions you undertake.

A healthy body emits coherent polarised light

“We are still on the threshold of fully understanding the complex relationship between light and life, but we can now say emphatically, that the function of our entire metabolism is dependent on light.”

Prof. Fritz-Albert Popp

From the research of Professor Albert-Fritz Popp, and subsequently confirmed by other researchers, we know that all healthy cells and organs emit highly polarised coherent light. When there is dysfunction in any area of the body the polarisation angle changes. In ART we use a linear light polarisation filter together with the science of the direct resonance phenomena to analyse these light emissions from various areas of the body. From this we can determine the organ systems that are dysfunctional, determine the underlying causes and find an intervention to remedy them, this allows the body to restore balance to a state in which it can self-regulate and heal.

While there is no guarantee that you’ll achieve total success in what you hope to achieve, as is the case with all therapies, this is by far the most accurate and promising combination that we’ve discovered and we’re very excited to be able to offer this combination of clinical tools. A body in blocked regulation will have difficulties healing

The autonomic nervous system contains two states: parasympathetic and sympathetic, which also equate to yin and yang, these are never static but in a constantly changing balance, like day and night. In the Yin state we are healing, regenerating and detoxifying, heart rate is slower, digestion is working efficiently, we’re producing digestive juices and enzymes and have good bowel motility, we feel relaxed. In a Yang state we are alert, awake, energised and able to respond and adapt to our environment, in this Yang state we are in a state of strength. The sympathetic nervous system is represented in the skin and primes all our muscle spindles allowing subtle changes in sympathetic innervation to be picked up using an indicator muscle. The hands have dual innervation with both sympathetic and parasympathetic innervation and to assess parasympathetic activity we use the bi-digital O-ring test developed by Dr Yoshiaki Omura.

When illness begins our immune system is activated to deal with the microbes or toxins encountered and we are in the sympathetic (Yang) state. After a few days our body is successful against these invaders and we move into a compensatory yin state to heal and regenerate from the battle waged within us. When this battle is unsuccessful the body remains stuck in this sympathetic dominant state and we move into chronic illness. Without the healing Yin stage the body starts to become depleted, digestion starts to stagnate and other systems become dysfunctional. At this stage therapeutic intervention is needed to get back into the Yin state to restore balance and regenerate. This is when there is blocked regulation – the body is no longer able to regulate and adapt to the environment. Blocked regulation correlates with the Heart Rate Variability test.

The 7 factors

The things that make us ill can be broken down into 7 factors. When the light is not coming out of the cells correctly the body is in blocked regulation, which prevents a healing state of being. Correcting blocked regulation is the backbone of the ART session. The causes of blocked regulation can be summarised into the 7 factors:

toxins including biotoxins from unresolved chronic infections

nutrient deficiencies

structural problems

food sensitivities

energetic perturbances

geopathic and biophysical stress

pyschoemotional issues and unresolved trauma

The resonance phenomena between identical substances

When a substance placed over the body is identical to a substance within the body at that location then the resonance phenomena applies. This was discovered by Dr Yoshiaki Omura, and the research is published in the peer-reviewed journal: International Journal of Acupuncture and Electrotherapeutics Research. This principle of physics is used within ART to scan the body for the presence and location of toxins and by using different concentrations we can also identify how concentrated that toxin is in the body. The same can be done with microbes to assess presence and location of parasites, viruses, bacteria and moulds. The direct resonance with the toxin or pathogen will cause a weakness in the indicator muscle which we will 2-point against various treatments to find the most effective remedies against what is found.

Direct resonance can also be used to test drug uptake to see if the remedy being used is reaching the target area. In some cases the remedy may be effective but not reaching where it needs to go. In cases where the remedy isn’t reaching the target location we use DUET (Drug Uptake Enhancement Techniques) that includes Mental Field Therapy (tapping) working on the acupuncture meridians. This could be the case if you are taking a medicine that ticks all the boxes for your condition but you aren’t getting the expected results. In the ART session you’d take the medicine as you would normally and then we’ll use the direct resonance phenomena to assess where in the body it’s gone to. Depending on how complex your case is this may be done in a follow up session.

The foundation of health is a good diet

NUTRITION SCIENCE

In the world of Nutrition Science, things move fast, so we ensure we stay up-to-date with the latest research and attend plenty of conferences and events to hear renowned scientists and clinicians explain their findings. It can take years for new research to reach the mainstream so at ART Health Clinic we go straight to the sources – the scientists who are doing the research to get to hear what’s new and  stay on top of this fast-paced field of science.

Based on a complex interplay between your genetic predispositions, epigenetics, environmental factors, current signs and symptoms, lifestyle and dietary preferences, we can advise you on the eating style that will best suit your unique needs in line with your health goals. Depending on your current state of health, diet alone may not be sufficient to restore health, so on top of the right eating style, we use targeted nutrients and herbs to help bring body systems back into balance. We bring you the most recent information of what’s effective and then can use the A.R.T to determine the correct dose to provide you with the maximum effect.

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy considers each individual to be biochemically unique and recommend personalised nutrition programmes rather than a one-size-fits all approach. In order to achieve optimal health all the interconnected systems in the body need to be working in harmony. These systems include:

  • Immune system

  • Neurological system

  • Digestive system

  • Endocrine system

  • Cardiovascular system

  • Lymphatic system

  • Detoxification pathways

  • Musculo-skeletal system

  • Mitochondrial function

Nutritional therapy uses science-based biochemistry and physiology to balance these systems through using a variety of tools including a personalised diet plan to complement the nutritional needs of the client, biochemical testing, lifestyle analysis, stage of life and genetic risk factors. It also considers any medications you are on and to replace nutrients depleted by these medications.

Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a philosophy which endorses a system of health care encouraging the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms. Naturopathy recognises that disease is a disturbance of the balance of harmony within the body and that by restoring this balance, the body can heal itself.  It is based on 12 principles:

  • Vis Medicatrix Naturae  – the healing power of Nature – the belief that there is a ‘vital force’ in every living being and given the right conditions, the body can heal itself

  • Prevention is better than cure

  • Identify the root cause of the dysfunction and address this, rather than trying to suppress symptoms

  • The whole person is treated, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually

  • Health is viewed to be abundant vitality – far more than just the absence of disease

  • The person is treated, not the disease

  • Every person is unique and responds in a different way

  • All disease starts with the disruption of homeostasis in the body

  • Ill health is the product of the internal environment rather than external influence, it is the terrain that is the problem, not the microbes per se

  • Treatment is tailored to whether there is deficiency or excess – if deficient -treatment would be used to build the patient up, if excess (toxicity) treatment would involve detoxification

  • Ailments should not be suppressed – a Naturopath encourages the body to promote its innate healing abilities

  • A Naturopath is an educator and teacher – empowering the patient to take responsibility for their own health

A number of techniques are used in Naturopathy including nutritional therapy, diet and supplementation, herbal medicine, homeopathy, TCM, hydrotherapy, detoxification methods, fasting, relaxation techniques, Bach flowers, Tissue salts, essential oils, heat and light therapy.

Functional Medicine

The Functional Medicine Approach looks deeper to identify biochemical imbalances and tracking back to the root causes of illness using a detailed health timeline. By analysing events throughout life from the genetic risk factors preconception, the in utero effects altering genetic expression through epigenetics, traumas and stressful life events, dietary and lifestyle patterns throughout life from infancy onwards, symptoms past and present, this approach helps detect causes underlying present issues and addresses health at it’s core.
